RED DEER – Hockey Alberta has named the 160 athletes who will represent their regions at the 2025 Prospects Cup.
Eight teams will compete in a modified round-robin tournament taking place in Red Deer at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre from May 8-11. Teams are comprised of the top male athletes from across the province, with each of the eight teams roster including two goaltenders, six defencemen, and 12 forwards.
Hundreds of athletes competed at Regional Camps held this past weekend (April 11-13) in Calgary, Edmonton, Olds and Vergreville. Male athletes born in 2012 who were registered with a Hockey Alberta or Hockey Canada sanctioned program this season were eligible to try out.
The Prospects Cup is the introduction to the Hockey Alberta process for these athletes as it focuses on their development and growth while also introducing the majority of them to short-term competition,” said Blake Cosgrove, Hockey Alberta’s Manager of Elite Hockey Development. “This group of players is exciting to watch, and I hope they enjoy the experience.”
The Prospects Cup is the final event of the 2025 Hockey Alberta Spring Showcase. It is the first opportunity for athletes, coaches, therapists, equipment managers, and administrators to experience short-term competition and an introduction to the Team Alberta Program.
Hockey Alberta’s Spring Showcase kicks off with the Alberta Cup April 24-27.
