Strathcona Minor Hockey is a competitive hockey organization committed to excellence both on and off the ice. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Coach to lead our team to success. This is an exciting opportunity to help develop the next generation of hockey players while building a winning culture and ensuring a positive experience for everyone involved.
Job Overview:
As the Head Coach, you will be responsible for leading the hockey team, planning and executing practices, developing game strategies, and fostering a positive environment of growth and development. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in coaching hockey at a competitive level, as well as a strong understanding of the sport and the ability to mentor players.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the team in practices, games, and off-ice activities.
- Develop and implement effective game strategies and tactics.
- Provide feedback, mentoring, and skill development for players.
- Create and maintain a positive, disciplined, and respectful team culture.
- Communicate effectively with players, staff, and management.
- Monitor and assess player progress and provide development plans.
- Oversee team staff and ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the team.
- Represent the team at meetings, media events, and community functions.
- Ensure the team’s compliance with league rules and regulations.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Head Coach or Assistant Coach at a competitive hockey level.
- Strong knowledge of hockey fundamentals, strategies, and player development.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to motivate, inspire, and build a cohesive team.
- Passion for developing young athletes and creating a positive team culture.
- Previous experience in coaching or related sports management positions is a plus.
- Certification from Hockey Canada is preferred.
