Coordinator, Video

Hockey Alberta is seeking a talented and energetic professional to join the organization as our Video Coordinator. The Video Coordinator plays a significant role in the pursuit of the vision and mission of Hockey Alberta. This full-time position focuses on the planning and production of videos to inform and engage members, participants, customers, and the public about programs, services, initiatives and events offered by Hockey Alberta, the Hockey Alberta Foundation, Member organizations, and sanctioned leagues.

Key areas of responsibility include:

Strategy, Planning and Execution
  • Serve as the organization’s central resource person and lead day-to-day operations to produce required video products.
  • Identify and prioritize topics and messaging for videos through consultation with Hockey Alberta staff and other partners.
  • In conjunction with the Senior Manager and Manager, establish and maintain organizational standards and expectations for video and audio productions.
  • Ensure appropriate review/feedback process occurs prior to public posting/distribution of materials.
Video Project Planning
  • Create and carry out the plan for the completion of each video project to meet content and audience requirements and deadlines.
  • Collaborate on sponsor recognition, as required.
  • Pre-production work including establishing a workflow and writing and editing scripts for each video project, arranging for appropriate video locations, securing required B-roll video and photos, and music and graphics appropriate for the project, and obtaining all required licences and permissions.
  • Establish, collect and track meaningful analytics and data types to monitor use and effectiveness of video, and produce regular reports and provide recommendations on new initiatives.
Video Project Production
  • Production including completing video shooting, sound and lighting, troubleshooting, setting up and taking down equipment.
  • Post-production tasks including reviewing footage, making editorial decisions, video transcoding, rough cuts, audio adjustment, color correction, and final editing; utilizes computer graphics and special effects for video post-production in accordance with the overall production concepts.
  • Prepare videos for output according to for third party websites such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms.

Resource Storage & Organization

  • Lead in overall organization and centralized sorting, storage and labeling of video library.
  • Assist with coordination and production of audio recordings.
  • Establish appropriate tags and organizational structure so that video resources can be easily searched and identified for inclusion in projects.
  • Ensure appropriate resources are available for Engagement activities, materials and platforms.
General
  • Responsible for the delivery of assigned organization objectives and key results, as assigned by the CEO, and department OKRs.
  • Establish, collect and track meaningful analytics and produce regular reports and provide recommendations on new initiatives.
  • Participate in annual departmental budgeting and planning processes.
  • Manage assigned budget areas and resources.
  • Identify and complete applicable professional development opportunities.
  • Other related duties, as assigned.

 

Qualifications and Attributes:

  • 1-3 years of relevant video production experience.
  • Ability to perform the duties and responsibilities outlined above.
  • Experience in using video, audio and editing equipment/ software; Microsoft Office products; and Adobe products related to documents, photography and design.
  • Demonstrated writing, editing and grammar skills.
  • Experience with Adobe Stock, content management, and social media.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with ability to present ideas and information clearly and in an understandable manner.
  •  Communication and organizational skills for working in a busy “team” environment.
  • Interpersonal Skills - ability to positively and diplomatically communicate and interact with volunteers, members, sponsors, media, board members, executive, staff and general public
  • ability to work independently on various, complex ongoing tasks and projects and meet various deadlines
  • Photography experience is considered an asset.
  • Understanding of the sport of hockey and the business of sport is an asset.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by the position.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

 

What We Offer

·       Based on Hockey Alberta’s Compensation Policy, the salary range for this position is $51,115 - $60,136 (relative to the successful applicant’s education, skills, and experience.)

·       Upon completion of the six-month waiting period, you’ll be enrolled in Hockey Alberta’s comprehensive benefits plan.

·       Two weeks vacation annually, with incremental increases based on years of service as per Hockey Alberta’s Time Off Policy.

·       Hockey Alberta offers a flexible work environment. Compensatory time is available when the employee is required to work outside normal business hours.

·       Professional development opportunities to enhance individual skills and knowledge.

·       Upon completion of two full years of employment, you’ll be eligible to participate in Hockey Alberta’s RRSP plan with matching contributions from Hockey Alberta as per the Staff Benefits Plan.
