Coordinator, Finance & Administration

Hockey Alberta is seeking a talented and energetic professional to join the organization as our Coordinator, Finance & Administration. The Coordinator, Finance and Administration plays an important role in the day-to-day financial operations while also providing support to the Corporate Services Department, the President/CEO and Board of Directors.  This position will interact with all staff and many Hockey Alberta Volunteers in their duties. 

Key areas of responsibility include:

 

Financial Administration

o   Perform accounts payable and receivable functions.

o   Track incoming invoices to ensure timely payments.

o   Post general journal entries.

o   Review and record monthly credit card transactions.

o   Reconcile online payment platforms monthly.

o   Maintain the volunteer social insurance number database.

o   General filing of finance paperwork.

o   Process credit card payments over the phone.

o   Maintain up to date vendor / customer contact information in the accounting system.

o   Assist & support in the annual audit process.

o   Other finance duties as require.

Corporate Services, Human Resources & Office Administration

o   Work on assigned projects within Human Resources in conjunction with the Manager. 

o   Provide administrative support to the Corporate Services department. 

o   Order and distribute office supplies as required.  

o   Provide assistance as required to Hockey Alberta Strategic Initiatives.

o   Active participation in other committees, events and meetings as required.

o   Other duties as required.

President/CEO and Board Support

o   Provide administrative support to the President/CEO and Board of Directors as required.

o   Coordinate logistics for Board meetings and conference calls including taking of minutes.

o   Support to the AGM planning Committee including preparation of the AGM Meeting minutes.

Qualifications and Attributes:

·       Applicable knowledge of bookkeeping principles.

·       Diploma in Business Administration or similar education is considered an asset

·       Hands on experience working with the Microsoft office suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as Sage Simply Accounting software is an asset

·       Knowledge & experience in areas of office administration

·       1-2 years’ experience in a professional office setting.

·       Exceptional communication and organizational skills are essential to work in this busy “Team” environment.

·       Ability to lead, communicate professionally and build relationships.

·       Ability to work under pressure and prioritize accordingly and/or multi-task to meet various deadlines.

·       Ability to be creative, facilitate change, develop, and respect policies and procedures.

Valid Driver’s License is an asset.

What We Offer

·       Based on Hockey Alberta’s Compensation Policy, the salary range for this position is $51,115 - $60,136 (relative to the successful applicant’s education, skills, and experience.

·       Upon completion of the six-month probationary period, employees are enrolled in Hockey Alberta’s comprehensive benefits plan.

·       Two weeks vacation annually, with incremental increases based on years of service as per Hockey Alberta’s Time Off Policy.

·       Hockey Alberta offers a flexible work environment. Compensatory time is available when the employee is required to work outside normal business hours.

·       Professional development opportunities to enhance individual skills and knowledge.

·       Upon completion of two full years of employment, employees are eligible to participate in Hockey Alberta’s RRSP plan with matching contributions from Hockey Alberta as per the Staff Benefits Plan.
