Team Alberta U17 is the final stage of the Team Alberta Male Program. This stage gives athlete’s exposure to International Competition and opens the door for a chance to participate in Hockey Canada’s National Programs.
The World U17 Hockey Challenge is the pinnacle event for an athlete in the provincial Team Alberta Program and is the first stage of Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence which in turn leads to the National Team Canada U18 and U20 Programs. Team Pacific combines the top players from Alberta (identified, selected and developed through the team Alberta Program) and the top players from British Columbia, who compete against four other Canadian Teams (West, Ontario, Quebec, Atlantic) and five other national teams from the USA, Russia, Sweden, Czech Republic and Finland.
The Team Alberta Program prepares athletes for this prestigious international event by preparing and exposing them to short term competition throughout the Team Alberta process. This development progression has lead to a tradition of excellence and Team Pacific being a force to contend with year after year.
